The law says funeral homes must tell you their prices

Under the Federal Trade Commission's Funeral Rule, every funeral home in the U.S. has to:

  • give prices over the phone to anyone who asks
  • do it without asking for your name, address or phone number
  • give itemized prices, not only package deals
  • let you buy only the goods and services you want

Getting a straight answer still takes work. Funeral homes don't have to post prices online, and when the FTC tested this in 2023, about 3 in 10 needed more than one call during business hours.

We make those calls for you, ask for the prices you are entitled to, and tell you which funeral homes wouldn't answer.

Questions

Are you a funeral home?

No. We only collect and compare prices. We don't arrange funerals and we don't sell funeral plans, prepaid contracts or insurance.

Do funeral homes pay you?

No. We don't take commissions or referral fees from funeral homes.

Who makes the calls?

We use an automated calling assistant that tells the funeral home it is an assistant. A person checks every report before we send it.

Will funeral homes call me afterwards?

No. We don't give them your name, phone number or email.

Someone has just died. Can you still help?

Yes. Orders placed before noon Eastern time on a weekday are started the same day. If the person needs to be moved right away, contact a funeral home directly and use our report to compare once it arrives.

What do you do with my information?

We use it only for your order and delete it if you ask.
